A new Beta version of XMB is available today.

Here are some of the accomplishments:

• File-based template system for easier updates and merges.
  
  
• File-based translations too (we got tired of the database ideas).
  
  
• Admin Panel now organized into 112 files instead of two monolithic beasts.
  
  
• Modern SMTP for emails, plus DKIM signing options.
  
  
• E-Mail settings moved to Admin Panel. Config file will still work if needed.
  
  
• Updated reCAPTCHA protection for member registration.
  - Now compatible with Classic checkbox, invisible v3, and Google Cloud options.
  - Presented as the 2nd step in registration. This cuts the bot traffic even more.
  
  
• Modern password hashing for member records.
  - Password migration is automatic when each member performs a login.
  
  
• Option to name your session from the login screen.
  
  
• Integrated install and upgrade features to avoid folder juggling.
  
  
• Schema changes that will help with maintenance and future features.
  
  
• Site-wide I/O security enhancement. The "register globals" pattern is gone!
  
  
• Profile registration, profile self-editing, and profile admin editing are now integrated for consistency.
  
  
• The Settings page is now tabbed for ease of navigation.
  
  
• PHP 8.2 or higher is required.

One of the known issues now with Beta 1 is related to member registration. When the "E-mail verification" setting is enabled, it does not work correctly.

This is fixed in the master branch and will be resolved with Beta 2, probably later this week.
