[New] Upgrade help, blank screen on index page

Full Board URL: www.myforum.com
XMB Version: Unknown

At this time I don't know which version I am trying to fix. I have an older installation that was on a different server. The hosting company conveniently deleted most of my databases. I am trying to restore a forum from backup to a new hosting. All I am getting is a blank white screen. I would like to upgrade the forum, but in the upgrade instructions it says you must be logged in to you forum.

My question is: Can I upgrade without being logged in somehow? If so, how?

In regard to your blank screen, if this is after you have restored the database and have all the scripts in place, then look to the error log and that may hold a clue.

In regard to upgrading without logging in, you could try restoring the database then uploading all the scripts, then edit the config script to point to your database etc., then try it and see what happens. Again, the error log may spit out clues of issues. No guarantee this will work, just a suggestion. The scripts usually have the version number near the top.

I looked at the version I had, I can't remember which one it was. It was a forum that had quite a few hacks in place like a guestbook and a download section and some other stuff. I found a forum version on my computer that was in between that old version and the new 1.9.11. I was able to upgrade to that version minus any addons and hacks I had installed. I can log in now, so I should be able to upgrade again to the newest version. I think the reason I was getting a blank white screen was due to an old hack and newer script software on servers now.
