This is not an issue due to any character limit.
I have tested the text you attached and it's the umlaut characters that cause the problem.
Do you have access to phpmyadmin?
If so, just check to see what type of character encoding is used by your tables.
Probably latin1 encoding or UTF-8. Can you check and post which it is?
I'll bet it's latin1, which is causing the issue, specifically the line where the character at the end of this which has an umlaut:
Elke vorm van reclame voor commerci
***** Potential fix:
Check the above first, then:
- set up another test xmb forum.
- when the database has been created, check the character type of the tables
- if it's latin1, change it to utf-8
- create posts, forum areas etc with the special characters.
- if you verify that special characters work with utf-8, then:
Make a complete backup copy of your actual live database in case anything goes wrong. Run the following on the live forum DB and tables:
Run the following, replacing databasename with your actual DB name and tablename for each xmb table name.
- ALTER DATABASE databasename CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci;
- ALTER TABLE tablename CONVERT TO CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci;
