[New] Best way to start board from scratch maintaining posts, users etc.

Full Board URL: zyngaforums.com
XMB Version: 1.9.11

Hello folks

I have a board I've been beating around for years with different hacks, addons etc. What I would like to do is install the latest version of xmb and then import just the posts/user info. If I install the latest version and import my current database, that will carry over any hacks that added sql correct?

I just want to start from scratch installing just a few hacks but want to make sure go about it the correct way.

Thanks for any assistance!

Why not try this:

create a new forum folder, eg:
zyngaforums.com/testtheforum/

where you have installed the latest xmb, then point the confiog file settings to the database, test, and alter hacks as needed.
That way you don't affect the working install.

Once happy it all works, you just copy it over the existing install.

Back up first.

If it would help, I could dig up an older copy of 1.9.11 that had the legacy upgrade script. It was a fairly destructive beastie that would attempt to delete all data added by any hacks. This also has potentially negative side effects ;)

I have full backups and would gladly be a guinea pig! Like a WIndows PC just like to start fresh once in awhile. Going to try runninb the board with less bells and whistles.

I know you're super busy in college so don't go crazy searching but if you can find it easy I'd give her a go. :)

I put it here in case that helps http://www.xmbforum2.com/download/XMB-1.9.11.10.zip

It wont delete any tables. If you have extra tables, they can be deleted manually.
