Hey guys,

We've been using the forum software for about ten years and really love it. Have a couple of questions right now after moving to a new web server.

After moving the forum, for some reason the u2u feature where "You have xx new u2u messages" doesn't highlight red anymore when there are actually new messages. I've looked and looked for someplace to turn this feature on, and I am having no luck. Can someone help?

The other question is about captcha image verification. We had been getting hammered with spammers lately registering on the forum, so I wanted to used this feature.

After enabling it, there is a broken link to the image file for the new user to enter the text. Maybe I just need a quick lesson on how this image is generated. I see in the settings where it is asking for the directory for the image and image fonts, but where are those supposed to come from? Does the forum software create those on it's own? Do I make the images?

captcha images are stored in your /forum/images/captchaimages/
check on your server if you have that directory with 755 permissions and inside captcha image files with 644 permissions.

in your database (check thru phpmyadmin) there should be a table xmb_captchaimages with multiple entries

also enable error_log so that any error can be filed in http://lakecumberland.com/forum/error_log and can be known easily

Do you or anyone have any advice on the red highlight over the "new u2u message" that isn't showing up anymore on our forum?

do you find 'new U2U messages' in RED on this forum when you get them ? (i just sent u2u to you for checking this)
if not, then understand that it was some custom setting done exclusively for your forum and it was replaced by original xmb code now.

Yeah, it might have been something custom made, I don't know. Our members have been bugging me to bring that feature back. Sure would like to figure that one out.

That was never a feature of XMB. You must have added that in yourself.

Do you mean... The text was red , or that it had a red glow ?

Attach header.php and we can see if we can add it in there.
