XMB Forum Software

[Resolved] Is Update Mandatory?

Full Board URL: https://www.ohiostatetrapper.org/forum/
XMB Version: 1.9.11

We've been using the 1.9.11.12 version and it's been working fine. Until yesterday. Users can view the forum but can no longer log in. Is this because of the update? I checked our webserver and it says: PHP version: 5.6.40.
I'm not experienced with XMB, and actually had help getting the forum online in the first place -- and that was several years ago.
What can we do to log into the current forum?
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Hi, it's not related to the new versions of XMB. I will help check if there's any obvious problem on your front page.

Everything looks mostly normal to me except that the registration page is turned off.

Exactly what happens when you try to login with your administrator credentials?

Have you tried a different browser or attempted the Forgot Password option?

XMB 1.9.11.12 is not fully compatible with PHP 5.6. Updating to 1.9.11.15 is recommended in any case. You would only need to unpack or upload the new files.

Thank you so very much for your reply!
When I go to the forum log-in page, I can type my log-in information, but it automatically sends me to this page: https://www.ohiostatetrapper.org/forum/misc.php?action=login
If I try logging in again, it just goes right back to the same page https://www.ohiostatetrapper.org/forum/misc.php?action=login just as if I had hit refresh instead of entering any information.
Since I don't normally use the forum, I was informed of the problem by another user, who is having the exact same issue while trying to log in.

Ah, I see the issue now. There are a few things in conflict with the XMB and PHP versions and the HTTPS configuration. I'm confident the update to XMB 1.9.11.15 would resolve the problem. Even though that version is a few years old, it is more aligned with your current server environment.

Since you are already on 1.9.11, it's just a matter of copying those files. If you're more comfortable sending me a FTP or SSH password, I could take care of it. The easiest way is the U2U button below.

u2u sent. You are a life saver!

Seems to be an auxiliary mail or storage account. Just a blank home folder in there. It is not uncommon for shared hosts to only provide one username for the website itself.

You should be all set now. If everything is fixed, go ahead and change that password.
